Midstream Collective wants Intelster to be usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, voice control or other assistive technology.

The standard we hold ourselves to

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That is the benchmark generally applied to business websites under the Americans with Disabilities Act, under California's Unruh Civil Rights Act, and in the EN 301 549 standard used in Europe and the United Kingdom.

What we have done

• The site is fully operable by keyboard: every filter, tab, card and link can be reached with Tab and activated with Enter or Space, and the focus indicator is always visible.
• A "skip to main content" link is the first thing a keyboard or screen-reader user reaches.
• The view switcher is a proper tab list, so assistive technology announces which view is selected.
• Filters are real buttons with their pressed state announced, not decorative shapes.
• Expandable project and contractor cards announce whether they are expanded or collapsed.
• Result counts update in a polite live region, so a screen reader announces how many projects match after you search or filter.
• Search fields have proper labels, and decorative icons are hidden from assistive technology.
• Text and interface colours meet the 4.5 to 1 contrast minimum in both the light and dark themes, and the site follows your system theme.
• The layout reflows to a single column and text can be enlarged without loss of content.
• Animation is reduced automatically if your device asks for reduced motion.

How we test

Every deployment is checked with an automated WCAG 2.1 A and AA audit against the live pages in both light and dark themes, alongside manual keyboard testing. At the most recent deployment the audit reported no violations on any page.

Known limitations

• Some source documents we link to are third-party PDFs and government portals whose accessibility we do not control.
• Very long project tables can require horizontal scrolling on small screens.
• Automated tools and keyboard testing cannot catch everything. A full audit with users of assistive technology has not yet been carried out.
